Zimplats shines at 2025 ZIMRA Taxpayer Appreciation Awards

Zimplats emerged as the overall winner of the 2025 ZIMRA Taxpayer Appreciation Awards held in Harare on Thursday, 3 November 2025.

The award recognises Zimplats’ consistent compliance and exceptional revenue contribution over the past five years, during which the platinum group metals miner has demonstrated unwavering dedication to national development, and compliance .

In addition to the top accolade, Zimplats also won the Exporters Award under the Authorised Economic Operators category. The company received a standing ovation.

The Awards celebrate excellence in tax compliance and reaffirm ZIMRA’s commitment to fostering a culture of responsibility and integrity among taxpayers. As Zimbabwe advances towards Vision 2030, the participation and compliance of all citizens and institutions remain vital to building a self-reliant and prosperous nation.

Delivering remarks on behalf of Zimplats Chief Executive Officer, Mr Alex Mhembere, Zimplats’ Head of Corporate Affairs, Mrs Busi Chindove, said:

“Tax compliance is not a burden — it is an investment in our shared future. It strengthens national capacity; eases pressure on the fiscus and builds the credibility that attracts further investment. We reaffirm our commitment to operational excellence, full compliance, and the creation of shared value for Zimbabwe.”

She emphasised that Zimplats’ compliance framework is anchored in an accredited Business Management System aligned with global best practice, embedding discipline, accountability and transparency across the organisation.

The Guest of Honour, Vice President Kembo Mohadi (represented by the Deputy Minister of Finance, Economic Development and Investment Promotion, Honourable David Mnangagwa), praised taxpayers for their essential role in nation-building, noting that their contributions support schools, hospitals, infrastructure and broader socio-economic development.

ZIMRA Board Chairman, Mr Anthony Mandiwanza, commended compliant institutions as role models whose integrity and consistency lay “the bricks of Zimbabwe’s shared future.”

The Awards underscore the critical role of compliant taxpayers in strengthening the nation’s fiscal foundations.

Besides the awards Zimplats was among the organisations highlighted in a poem performed towards the end of the ceremony.
